Karthigai Pori Vurundai

Ingredients:
  • Rice flakes (puffed) - Aval - 2 Cups
  • Roasted bengal gram - 1/4 Cup
  • Roasted Pea Nuts(Verkadalai) - 1/4 Cup
  • Cashew bits, seasame, Grated dry coconut, Musk Melon Seeds - 1/2 Cup (all together -fry these items in a kadai for few minutes without oil or ghee)
  • Cardamom Powder - little
  • Ghee - 1 Tbl Spn
  • Grated brown jaggery (Pagam) - 1 Cup

Method:

Clean the puffed rice flakes. Mix all the ingredients mentioned above except ghee and jaggery and keep it in a bowl. Take the jaggery in a thick kadai and pour enough water to cover the jaggery and melt it. Then strain the jaggery syrup with a fine sieve to remove dirt and mud. Wash the kadai and pour the jaggery syrup in it. Boil it till it comes to stiff ball consistency( ie take little water in a small plate and pour few drops of jaggery syrup and mould it with your fingers and throw it in that plate water then we will see like a small stone ). Immediately remove it from fire and pour the ingredients which you kept in that bowl. Mix well carefully. Take a ghee greased big plate and put this staff in that. Watch carefully. Within few minutes you can make balls with your ghee greased hands. That mixture will become cool within minutes. So don't move from that place. It is a very healthy sweet.
